
Aquarium After Dark
Summer 2024
The objective of this project was to redesign the visual brand identity of Newport Aquarium’s Aquarium After Dark event, and included developing a word mark and creating touch points as part of a visual system to communicate the identity and values of the brand.
I believe that the current visual identity can communicate the magical and education experience of going to the aquarium “after hours”, especially because this was a new event and I felt it has a lot of room to grow.
I wanted my brand redesign to communicate these core values:
Educational
Personable
Magical/Mysterious
Existing Visual Identity
I wanted to represent the values that I had identified through my redesign of the event logo and word mark. I enjoyed the use of sans serif/serif font and the shark motif in the original design, which inspired me when I brainstormed different logo possibilities.

Brand Identity
Part of what I wanted to communicate in my brand identity is how the event will be unique to each person that attends. Something that stuck out to me in the original agenda of the event was that visitors are greeted by a “special animal ambassador”, which personalizes the experience to attendees.
To showcase this, I chose five aquatic animals as “themes” for the name tags that employees may wear during this event.
